Financing:
When we told the Olympia area LGBTQ community what we were doing, financial support was overwhelming – we received $1500 in only 2 checks, for instance. Since then we continue to solicit donations, and have held successful auctions and benefit dances to raise funds. We’ve been able to meet our financial goals – providing pizzas for 5 high schools now, including stipends of $25 per week for facilitators. We continue to look for ways to raise funds – we would like to expand to include another high school or 2 next year.
Costs:
We get a great deal from Round Table Pizza, paying only $9/pizza, plus $2 delivery and tax. Typically, we pay ~$120 per week – this covers 4 lunches (2 schools, 2 lunches each).
We also pay our facilitators $25 each per week, for a total of $100/week.
The total cost of the program last year (school year ’08-’09) was $7,000, or $3,500 per school.
